Firefighter Technology I
Only available for 10th-12th grade students
This course covers part of the NC Firefighter certification modules required for all Firefighters in North Carolina. The modules include Orientation, Communications, Health and Safety, PPE, Building Construction, Portable Extinguishers, Fire Behavior, Tools and Forcible Entry, and Loss Control. In this course students gather basic knowledge and skills required in firefighting. They develop skills in communications, use of personal protective equipment, forcible entry, fire extinguishers, and building construction. Students perform basic firefighter skills associated with the knowledge obtained in this course. They gain the knowledge, skills, and industry credentials for careers in firefighter technology.
Firefighter Technology II
Prerequisite - Firefighter Technology I
Only available for 11th - 12th grade students
This course covers part of the NC Firefighter certification modules required for all firefighters in North Carolina. The course enhances knowledge and skills required in firefighting. Students develop skills in ladders, ventilation, ropes and knots, water supplies, hoses, appliances for search and rescue, and emergency medical care operations. They perform intermediate firefighter skills associated with the knowledge obtained in this course. Students gain the knowledge, skills, and industry credentials for careers in firefighter technology.
Firefighter Technology III (Honors)
Prerequisite or Co-requisite - Firefighter Technology II
Only available for 11th - 12th grade students
This course covers part of the NC Firefighter certification modules required for all firefighters in North Carolina. The course maximizes knowledge and skills required in firefighting. Students develop tasks related to skills used in rescue, fire protection, fire and life safety, mayday, HAZMAT, and traffic incident management. They perform advanced firefighter skills associated with the knowledge obtained in this course. Students gain the knowledge, skills, and industry credentials for careers in firefighter technology.
