Graduation Requirements for Students Entering
9th Grade 2019-2020 

4 Sequential Credits

English I, II, III, IV

4 Credits

  1. NC Math 1, 2, 3, and a fourth mathematics course aligned with the student’s post high school plans

  2. In the rare instance a principal exempts a student from FRC mathematics sequence, except as limited by N.C.G.S. §115C-81(b), the student will be required to pass: NC Math 1 and Math 2 plus two additional courses identified on the NC DPI Math Options Chart.

  1. A physical science course

  3. Earth/Environmental Science

  1. World History    

  2. American History I

  3. American History II

  4. American History: Founding Principles, Civics and Economics

4 elective credits (four course concentration strongly recommended) from one of the following:

  • Career and Technical Education (CTE)

  • ROTC

  • Arts and Education 

(e.g. dance, music, theater arts, visual arts)

  • Any other subject area 

(e.g.  mathematics, science, social studies, English, and dual-enrollment courses)

6 Credits

6 Occupational Preparation credits:

  1. Occupational Preparation I

  2. Occupational Preparation II (2 credits)

  3. Occupational Preparation III (2 credits)

  4. Occupational Preparation IV  

600 Work hours to include:

  1. 150 Hours of school-based training with work activities and experiences that align with the students post school goals, and

  2. 225 hours of community-based training, and

  3. 225 hours of paid employment or 225 hours of unpaid vocational training, unpaid internship, paid employment at community rehabilitation facilities and volunteer and/or community service hours

Student must also complete:

  • A career portfolio

  • IEP objectives
